Daiwa’s flagship light-tackle rod series has been totally overhauled with the introduction of the 22 TD BATTLER AGS series. The pinnacle of Daiwa Australia rod design, 22 TD BATTLER AGS was a ground-up redevelopment with brand-new technology combining with decades of local knowledge and design experience from Daiwa’s product development team in Australia.

It all starts with the blank, and TD BATTLER AGS is using SVF Compile-X Nanoplus graphite. This is an incredibly high-modulus carbon sheet with nano-technology resin which offers unmatched sensitivity and power-to-weight ratio. Allowing for blanks which are both incredibly lightweight, and ultra-crisp and responsive.

Daiwa’s newest generation Air Guide System (AGS) carbon fibre guides have been equipped on TD BATTLER AGS. These feature improved frame design to minimize line tangles and slimmer ceramic inserts to further reduce weight and minimize friction for longer casts.

The blanks have been further improved using a clever combination of Daiwa’s 3DX and X45X Full Shield graphite technologies. Both works together to increase torsional stiffness to reduce blank twisting and eliminate power loss when loading. The result is an even crisper and more responsive blank which is the standard for the iconic TD BATTLER AGS series.

Fans of Daiwa rods from the past will instantly recognize the distinct clear finish to TD BATTLER AGS’s new AIRSENSOR hybrid reel seat. These new reel seats have been carefully designed to improve comfort with features like offset blanks in the baitcast rod to make your hand sit lower and make palming reels more comfortable.

X45X Full Shield | External Blank Reinforcement

X45X Full Shield Technology is 25% more efficient than standard X45 technology. With increased torsional stiffness, blanks armed with X45X resist blank twist during casting & jigging. This characteristic prevents the blank from losing stored energy during the cast, ensuring that every bit of force you put into your cast, is transferred through the blank and ultimately to your chosen lure.

3DX | Multi Directional Cross Wrap

3DX supports the lower power section of the rod by knitting densely packed carbon fibers in 3 directions to achieve a six-wrap rectangular weave. Power through the blank under load is distributed evenly in all directions allowing it to maintain its profile and form. This process confines the rod’s power to the lower section of the rod, increases power, eliminates blank twist and collapse, all the while reducing angler fatigue.

AGS Guide System | Increased Lightness and feel

Weighing a mere fraction of the weight of traditional guides (40% lighter than an equivalent sized titanium guide) AGS guides feature a solid carbon fibre frame construction that minimizes weight, improves casting distance and performance, and delivers faster rod speed, reduced rod vibration and angler fatigue, and greater rod sensitivity.

Mega Top | Solid Tip Technology

A revolution in sensitivity, Megatop is unlike any other ordinary solid tip construction. The new SVF - SPX material binds graphite fibres with precise resin control for an extremely even distribution of fibres. The result of this is virtually no spine in the rod tip so it bends the same angle in any direction. This allows for incredible pinpoint cast control with the lightest of weights, and its incredible transference of even the slightest bump or vibration allows for heightened bite detection.
